Research Highlight: Efficient gene delivery and selective transduction of astrocytes in the mammalian brain using viral vectors
ENP team leader Gilles Bonvento and his colleagues recently published in the journal Frontiers in Cellular Neuroscience. They reviewed the current knowledge on astrocytes’ contributions to synapse formation, plasticity, regulation of blood flow, and energy metabolism. They propose that target-specific influence over the expression of proteins, such as gene transfer, may be an effective strategy for developing new treatments for some neurological disorders.
